Retirement Benefits: Participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) for all part-time or temporary employees who work 20 hours or more per week for at least 20 weeks (does not have to be consecutive) within the fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). The Arizona State Retirement System is a defined benefit retirement program. Benefits to members of this program include retirement benefits, survivor benefits, long-term disability, and group health insurance coverage for retired or disabled members and health insurance premium benefits. 

 

Long Term Disability Benefits: Long Term Disability Insurance is provided as a benefit under your retirement plan. This program provides you with a monthly benefit designed to partially replace income lost during periods of total disability resulting from a covered injury, sickness or pregnancy. The following are voluntary benefits and premiums / contributions are funded 100% by the employee:

 

Sick Leave Accrual: All employees accrue sick leave starting their first day of employment. One (1) hour accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked. See policy 410-04 for additional details.

 

Supplemental Retirement Savings Plans (403(b) and 457(b) Programs): A variety of companies offer a convenient way to set money aside, tax free, for future needs, such as education and retirement. The Companies available for the 403(b) and 457(b) plans are Voya, VALIC, and Security Benefit. 

 

Flexible Benefit Plan: Budgeted Part-time staff working 20 hours per week may sign up to participate in the Flexible Benefit Plan as a way to save pre-tax dollars on qualified health, dental and dependent care expense. This benefit is administered through Health Equity.

 

Tuition Reimbursement: Part-Time Staff who are hired with the intention to work twenty (20) hours or more for twenty (20) weeks are eligible for 7 credit hours per semester that may be used for themselves or a dependent. Part-Time Faculty will receive credit hours based on the number of credit hours taught that semester. Reimbursement of in-state standard tuition is conditional on a final grade of A or B or C (or equivalent) and a pass in a designated pass/fail class.  Reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disability Act and Amendment Act may be made with consultation of the Director of Human Resources and the Disability Resources Coordinator.
