Coconino Grad's Passion for Writing Leads to Publication Success

Tina Adams, CCC and NAU graduate, never would have thought that she would be a published author, but as a working mom who just recently went back to school and got her degree her dreams have certainly come true. On Dec. 11, 2009 Adams, released her first story Chris Mouse and the Promise. Adams owes a lot of her recent publication success to Coconino Community College. "Coconino was my foundation" says Adams, "They have a major support network there." Born in Illinois, Adams has always had a great passion for writing and telling stories. Adams, first tried to publish her writing through a contest for a local paper. The contest was to write her favorite memory of Christmas.

This is where Chris Mouse originated, but it wasn't till just recently that she had the push to publish it. Chris Mouse and the Promise, is about a little mouse's flashback on her fond memories of when Jesus was born.Through this story Adams hopes to tell children about Jesus and let them know that not only were people aware of the birth of Christ but the animals were aware as well. She also hopes to inspire college graduates of all ages to go after their goals and dreams as well. "I never thought 15 years ago I would have gone back to school and received a BSW." says Adams. Adams graduated from CCC in 2006 with a BSW Associate of Arts in Pre-Social Work. She then went on to get her bachelors in Social Work from Northern Arizona University. Her greatest advice to the students at CCC who are looking to graduate is to stick with it. "It may seem like it is tough and it will never end, but it is worth it!" said Adams. Her success does not stop here. She is in the process of writing another story, a novel called Belinda Sue Fridlemeyer and the Case of The Missing Shoes. Adams books will be available through Amazon and Barnes and Nobel book stores.
