SBA ARC Loan Workshops

The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 authorizes the creation of a new, temporary emergency loan program called "American Recovery Capital" (ARC Loans).  This new loan program will be discussed during these events inculding an update on the small business opportunities contained in the stimulus legislation.

Key factors for application:

  • To be elegible, business must be a viable small business, show financial hardship that requires temporary relief, and can clearl show they will remain open and healthy after the loan discperses.
  • Max. loan amount is $35,000, no payments the first 12 months.
  • Loans are 100% SBA guaranteed, no fees and interest free.
  • Must meet SBA borrower eligibility for type of business.
  • Proceeds can be used for payment of up to 6 moths of principle and interest including business loans, excluding SBA 7(a) loans made prior to 2/17/09.  Payment of business credit card can be included with proper documentation.

    To Register: On line registrations on our web page at www.sba.gov/az then select the “On Line Registration” link under the SPOTLIGHT section.  Under the drop down menu, select ARC Loans to complete the registration process.

SBDC Counselor is honored with Arizona Small Business Development Center Network's State Star Award

He has been connected to the stars before and now Coconino Community College Small Business Development Center business counselor Kurt Haskell is being named The SBDC Arizona State Star. Haskell, who is in the NASA U.S. SpaceFoundation’s Technology Hall of Fame for helping to develop the technology that makes defibrillators portable, is being recognized in Chicago in September after Arizona’s SBDC office chose him as the top business counselor in the state.“I was very surprised and honored,” said Haskell. “I like to use my business experience to help others because I’ve been through it all. And I like to see the clients succeed. That’s my gratification. That’s why I work here.”

Haskell has more than 25 years of business management and entrepreneurial experience. He has owned several small businesses including a gas station, mini mart and an ice plant. And he has been the president of several specialty manufacturing firms that produce electronics and realize millions of dollars in sales. Haskell and his Maxwell Technologies team were inducted into NASA’s Hall of Fame in April 1999. He was president of Maxwell-Sierra Aerospace when the state of Nevada twice recognized the organization as one of the Top 10 Fastest Growing Companies.
