122-00 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY—POLICY
Coconino Community College shall, in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1987, state, local and federal regulations, establish and maintain a comprehensive hazardous materials communication program which shall cover container labeling, material, safety data sheets and employee training. The purpose of this communication program is to ensure employees are adequately informed of the risks of chemicals in the workplace, are able to identify hazards of chemicals, and are trained in proper practices and emergency procedures.
The President or designated representative will develop administrative procedures to assure that material source illnesses and injuries are held to a minimum by providing employees with safety and hazard information to encourage safe and healthful work habits. These procedures will be updated and filed in the College Business and Administrative Services department. Copies will be available in other locations as needed with portions, such as material safety data sheets and a list of hazardous materials, available at all locations where hazardous materials are stored.
