Michelena takes new role at Page

Renee E. Michelena has added LEC Program Coordinator to her duties at the Page campus. Since 1993, Michelena has been an associate faculty memeber at CCC and as of August 1998, she added this new title.

Her responsibilities include serving as a liaison with the district director for the Learning Enhancement Center, providing leadership for learning assistance and foundation studies and assisting in the planning and delivering of learning assistance activities for the Page campus.

"One challenge that will be fun to pursue is to create lasting, effective partnerships with the community, businesses, student body and the library," Michelena said.

While working on this challenge, Michelena has several goals she hopes to attain during her first year in this position. These include increasing student usage in the LEC and planning learning assistance activities in a variety of ways to CCC and NAU students.

To help promote success of the students Michelena believes communication between students, faculty, administration, the community and the media must take place.

"It has been my goal to work in a post-secondary educational system," said Michelena. "Now that I am working at CCC, I'm loving the constant state of learning."

During her free time, Michelena enjoys reading, shopping, decorating and gardening. One of her favorite interests is "learning...constantly learning."

Anderson is student oriented

Kevin Anderson "Everything I do is related to student success in one way or another."

Kevin M. Anderson, student development coordinator at the Page campus, enjoys the emphasis CCC puts on student success.

"Promoting student success is the crux of my whole job," said Anderson. "Everything I do is related to student success in one way or another."

During his first year in his new position, Anderson hopes to increase student enrollment and leadership. Anderson wants to continue a positive community relationship in Page.

As student development coordinator, Anderson will be involved in a variety of tasks, such as, the advising council, strategic planning and student activities.

Anderson previously spent five years at the University of Arizona as an academic advisor and also worked as a graduate assistant for eight years in the history department. He received his masters degree from Arizona State University in Diplomatic History.

"I am very student oriented, so I expect to enjoy the student emphasis here, as opposed to the research emphasis at U of A."

Page not only offers Anderson a fulfilling job, but also a great place to enjoy the outdoors. When away from work, he enjoys camping, fishing, boating and listening to music. Anderson is married and has two daughters.
