CCC2NAU—A Degree Closer

CCC and NAU create new pathway to bachelor’s degree

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona’s premier higher education institutions—Coconino Community College and Northern Arizona University—are combining forces to offer students an innovative program that will smooth the path toward a baccalaureate degree. CCC2NAU was announced this morning during a joint news conference with both CCC President Leah. L. Bornstein and NAU President John D. Haeger in the CCC Lone Tree Commons.

CCC2NAU starts this fall and is open to community college students who might be interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree at some point in their careers. The program is distinguished by its tailored intensive advising with shared expertise from CCC and NAU, and a seamless transition from the community college to the university.

Students who register for CCC2NAU will receive an NAU e-mail address and an NAU ID card that provides free access to Cline Library services, computer labs and athletic events. CCC2NAU students also will receive access to low-cost or discounted services, programs and events, including theater and symphony performances, meal plans, the health center and recreational facilities.  CCC2NAU offers automatic transfer of credits and waives application fees.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for students in northern Arizona,” said Haeger. “The difference between this and similar programs nationwide is that CCC2NAU is open to everyone who has a goal of earning a baccalaureate degree, with special attention paid to students who may need more time or flexibility to reach their career goals.”

In addition to streamlining the transfer process, CCC2NAU also features a one-credit, tuition-free course to help students navigate through the community college and university resources and systems, and integrate into university life and culture.

“We expect that CCC2NAU will help us provide students with guidance earlier to help them succeed in reaching their educational goals,” said Bornstein. “This may well be life changing to those who may not have considered continuing their education beyond the community college. Now, they know they’ve got a team behind them coaching them all along the way.”

Bornstein and Haeger noted that the CCC2NAU program aligns with Gov.  Janet Napolitano’s P-20 Council recommendations to increase the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded in the state so that Arizona can be globally competitive. CCC2NAU also opens the door to students to more than double their annual earning potential by continuing on to earn a bachelor’s degree.

For information about the program, log on to www.ccc2nau.info or contact CCC2NAU advisor Sriyanthie McCabe at ccc2nau@coconino.edu or 928/226-4257.
