CCC Seeks Nominations for Distinguished Service
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Coconino Community College is seeking nominations for its prestigious Distinguished Service Award. The annual award recognizes outstanding service to the college and to the educational enrichment of Coconino County.
Nominations may be submitted through the CCC Web site at www.coconino.edu. Forms also are available at CCC campuses and may be delivered to any campus or faxed to 928-226-4102. Those nominated must be county residents and may not be currently employed by the college or serving on the CCC District Governing Board. Any county resident may submit a nomination for the award. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, Feb. 27.
Nominate an Employee of the Year
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- It’s time to nominate that co-worker who inspired, motivated or supported others. There are four awards this year: Employee of the Year for a classified employee, Employee of the Year for an administrative/professional employee, the Leadership Award and the Creativity Award.
An individual may win only one award per year and may not win the same award twice within a three-year period. Only CCC employees can make nominations and students are not eligible for these awards. Those honored will receive $500 toward professional development.

CCC Helps with New Year’s Resolutions about Learning
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – This could be the year you keep your New Year’s resolution by starting a career in astronomy, becoming a crime scene investigator or joining a dance company! Coconino Community College is ready to help and will be hosting its spring semester Orientation Celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Lone Tree Campus in Flagstaff.
New, current and prospective students are invited to take a tour of the campus, find out about financial aid, veterans’ benefits and student loans, or check out programs that the college offers. Joining in the event will be representatives from Lowell Observatory, the Museum of Northern Arizona and Flagstaff Medical Center who are connected with science, Colorado Plateau Studies and healthcare courses offered at CCC.
World Premiere: "A River Reborn: The Restoration of Fossil Creek"
PHOENIX, Ariz -- The World Premiere of the documentary film called, "A River Reborn" tells how Arizona Public Service and a host of environmental advocates overcame the odds to restore Fossil Creek to the citizens of Arizona. The film is produced by Emmy-Award-winning Paul Bockhorst and narrated by actor Ted Danson. It will be shown at 4 and 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 14 in the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Phoenix. Eikenberry Joins CCC District Governing Board
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Having been a weekend train robber since 1992, Eric Eikenberry says he wants to give back. Eikenberry has been sworn in as the newest member of the Coconino Community College District Governing Board.
Besides entertaining passengers as “Tombstone Red” aboard the Grand Canyon Railway, Eikenberry has spent 16 years in community college administration, mostly in rural Arizona districts. Currently, he owns As You Wish Remodeling, Inc.,” a residential general contracting business in Williams.

Photography and Ceramics Exhibit Reception Monday
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The CCC Fine Arts Department is hosting a Photography and Ceramics Opening Reception in the Lone Tree Campus Commons from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 22. The event is free and open to the public. Artists Greg and Paula Larkin will be available to talk about their work. Music and refreshments will be provided.
