EMPLOYMENT TYPE AND CATEGORY

 

443.1.1    Purpose

           

The purpose of this procedure is to establish definitions for employee types and employment categories.

 

443.1.2    Employee Types:

 

4)             Federal Work Study students work under the Federal Work Study Program.

 

2)             Classified Staff perform support, skilled craft or technical services for the College.  Examples of classifications include:  Accounting Technician, Office Assistant and Secretary.

 

3)             Associate Faculty deliver instruction to students on a part-time basis.  They have partial teaching loads. 

 

4)             Professional Staff provide skilled, coordinating and other professional services for the College. Examples of classifications include:  Assistant Director, Coordinator and Functional Systems Analyst.

 

5)             Full-time Faculty provide instruction to students and also serve in various administrative capacities.

 

6)             Administrators provide management and direction for the College. Classifications include Director level positions and higher.

 

443.1.3    Employment Categories:

 

1)             Regular Full-Time Employees are those who are assigned thirty or more hours per week, occupy budgeted positions, and who have completed their initial review period.

 

2)             Regular Part-Time Employees are assigned to work a regular schedule of less than thirty hours per week based and occupy budgeted positions, and who have completed their initial review period.

 

3)             Temporary Full Time – Benefits Eligible employees are assigned to work 30 hours per week or more for longer than six months (in the case of a staff employee) or one semester (in the case of a faculty employee).  Total employment cannot exceed one year.

 

4)             Temporary – Retirement Eligible employees are assigned to work at least 20 weeks in a fiscal year and 20 or more hours a week. Multiple jobs are considered cumulative for retirement eligibility.  Total employment cannot exceed one year.

 

5)             Temporary – Not Benefits Eligible work in seasonal or short-term capacities.  Their total number of hours in a fiscal year does not meet retirement eligible standards.
