303.1 ACADEMIC STANDARDS COMMITTEE PROCEDURES
303.1.1 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The Academic Standards Committee evaluates and recommends academic policy and procedures for the College. Academic Standards reviews any policy or procedure that deals with issues of academic integrity including but not limited to: Admissions and Registration, Financial Services, Academic Procedures, and Student Records and Support Services. Academic Standards ensures that all proposals conform to college mission, philosophy, and existing policy and procedures; and are educationally sound.
303.1.2 ACADEMIC STANDARDS COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP
1. Members of Academic Standards shall include: one Student Affairs representative, the Registrar, one Page Campus representative, three faculty members consisting of one full-time representative from each division and one associate faculty, Curriculum coordinator, one representative from Business and Administrative Services, and one Student Support Services representative or Faculty Advisor.
2. The Vice President of Academic Affairs, or designee, will serve as ex-officio member of the Committee. Clerical support for the Committee will be provided by a faculty secretary.
303.1.3 ACADEMIC STANDARDS MEMBERSHIP SELECTION PROCEDURES
1. Selection of committee members will occur before the end of the final committee meeting of each spring semester.
2. Faculty representatives will be selected by the faculty in consultation with the Division Deans. The associate faculty representative will be selected in consultation with Department Chair and approved by the committee.
3. Other members will be selected and approved by their respective departments.
303.1.4 TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP
Terms of membership will be a minimum of two years. Membership will be on a rotating basis for all members with the exception of the Curriculum Coordinator, to ensure committee continuity and adequate training of new members.
303.1.5 ELECTION AND TERMS OF CHAIR AND CO-CHAIR
The Chair will serve for one year. The Chair-elect will be selected annually by the Committee before the end of the final committee meeting of each spring semester. The Chair-elect will serve for one year under the guidance of the current Chair and become committee Chair the following year.
303.1.6 MEMBERSHIP CHANGE PROCEDURES
1. If any member of the Committee is not able to complete his or her term, a new representative will be requested by the Chair from the area of representation.
2. If the Chair of the Committee is not able to complete the term, the Chair-elect will assume the Chair, and a new Chair-elect will be selected by the Committee.
303.1.7 CONSENSUS
All action taken by the Academic Standards Committee is governed by Parliamentary procedure or some semblance thereof.
