302.2    HUMAN SUBJECTS PROCEDURE

 

1.   In order to provide Coconino Community College with the most reliable and objective research information possible and to protect the privacy of all constituents to the greatest degree possible, the College and all bodies operating directly or indirectly through the College shall maintain the following Human Subjects Procedure.

 

A.   The College shall ensure that all research activities (surveys, focus groups, data analysis, etc.) involving students will relate to the College’s mission.

 

B.   The College shall ensure that all subjects are informed of their right of refusal, where not otherwise mandated by federal or state law, and of the degree of confidentiality with which the material that they provide will be handled including, where appropriate, the implications of any freedom of information statute.

 

C.   The College shall make available to all subjects the description of the final use of the material that they provide and, where possible, make available the final aggregate results to the subjects.

 

D.   The College shall prevent any release of personal identifiable information that has been guaranteed as confidential to any person inside or outside the institution within the limits and mandates of state and federal laws or necessary research, unless authorized by the student.

 

2.   The Director for Institutional Research and Assessment shall apprise institutional authorities of the implications and potentially binding obligations of any promise to respondents regarding confidentiality and shall obtain consent from such authorities where necessary.
