103.1    AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PROCEDURE

 

            103.1.1 PURPOSE

The College is committed to practicing affirmative action to assure the full participation of women and members of minority groups, disabled persons, and veterans at all levels.

 

103.1.2 RESPONSIBILITY

Overall responsibility for implementation of the Affirmative Action Program at the College rests with the Human Resources Director who is also designated as the Affirmative Action Officer, under delegation from the College President.  The Affirmative Action Officer is responsible for monitoring the program and for this purpose reports directly to the President.

 

            1.      The Affirmative Action Officer reports to the President on matters involving complaints of discrimination in employment filed by students, faculty and staff.  The Affirmative Action Officer also investigates discrimination complaints both internally and those referred by the Equal Opportunity Commission.  The Affirmative Action Officer assists in familiarizing supervisors with federal and state laws and regulations requiring reasonable accommodation for the disabled.

 

103.1.3       DISSEMINATION OF POLICY

1.      The Affirmative Action Policy statement is included in the Coconino Community College Policy and Procedure Manual.               

                                                                                               

2.      EEO articles and statements are included in staff publications and care is taken to assure that women and minorities are pictured in college catalogs, brochures, handbooks, and similar publications.

 

3.      The President will, not less than once a year, distribute a memo to the entire staff expressing a strong commitment to the College's Affirmative Action Policy and Plan.

 

4.      As a part of the new employee orientation process the Affirmative Action Plan and the institutional commitment to diversity is discussed.

 

5.      A copy of the entire written plan is available in the Human Resources Department.

 

6.      Notices of equal opportunity, including references directly to disabled and veteran status, are included on all vacancy announcements and are sent to over ninety (90) employers throughout the state.

 

7.      The Affirmative Action Policy statements are forwarded to all major suppliers, contractors and vendors with whom the College does business and copies accompany requests for bids.
