101.1 GOVERNANCE PROCEDURE
101.1.1 PURPOSE
To provide for full review and input from all constituents of the College, Coconino Community College has defined participatory governance as a collaborative process that involves representatives from the College working in a climate of mutual trust and respect. These representatives will gather and share information related to significant issues and work toward decisions on those issues in accordance with the mission of the College. Governance-related interaction among constituent groups provides the balance of stability and change necessary for the advancement of the College.
1. The following principles guide this governance process:
A. Disclosure
1. Open and constructive participation among constituents;
2. A willingness to actively listen to each other;
3. Early opportunities for discussion, information sharing, and input on any topic;
4. Time for all constituent groups affected by the issue to share information and to state their position(s) on proposed actions.
B. Responsiveness
1. Due consideration and mutual trust of all constituents affected by an issue;
2. Timely action and communication on all issues and proposals;
3. Earnest efforts by all constituencies to understand divergent perspectives.
C. Accountability
1. Shared integrity and responsibility in all adopted governance policies and procedures;
2. Continual monitoring and refinement of governance policies and procedures by representatives of the entire College community;
3. Sincere effort to make the governance process work in a timely and effective manner.
2. Through this process of disclosure, responsiveness, and accountability, the constituents recognize that the College administration, and in some cases, the College’s District Governing Board, is ultimately responsible for approving decisions advanced by this system of consultative governance.
3. A list of committees/councils recognized as part of the governance process and inclusive of constituencies listed above, is maintained by the Office of the President. The list is published annually and is accessible through the “K” drive.
