1. What is on the ADEQ Operator Certification Exam?

There are four grade levels in each of the following areas:  Collections, Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and Water Treatment.  Each of these areas have grade levels 1 – 4 that you can become certified in.

2. Who can take the ADEQ Operator Certification Exams?

You may take the ADEQ Operator Certification exams if you have a high school diploma or GED or have been approved by ADEQ based on work experience or other means.

3.  How much do the ADEQ Operator Certification Exams Cost?

The exam fee is $75 per exam for each grade in each category.

4. How long do I have to finish the whole exam?

You will be given an uninterrupted block of 4 hours to complete the exam. 

5. Are there breaks during the exam?

Once an exam begins, you may not leave the testing room unless you finish the exam early. Food and drinks are NOT provided.

6. What score do I need to pass?

      A score of 70% or more is required to pass the exams.

7. How long will it take for me to get my results?

After you finish the exams you should obtain your results within one week. If you do not receive your results after one week, contact CCC's Testing Services at 226-4206.

8. When and where are tests given?

      Exams are given by appoinment only during regular business hours (Mon. - Fri.) beginning at 8:30am (ending at 12:30pm) and beginning at 1:00pm (ending at 5:00pm). You must request a day and time at least 7 days in advance. The ADEQ is given at CCC's Lone Tree Campus in Flagstaff.

9. How do I get my certificate?

The results of your exam will be forwarded to Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and they will issue you your certificate.

10. What if I need an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act?

Plan ahead, the application process will take time. To apply for accommodations you must contact the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) program office for approval of your accommodation(s) and/or adjustments to the standard exam protocol before registering to take an exam.
