Shared Borders - Maintaining Consistency between
web pages
About Shared Borders
Shared Borders are sections of web pages in
your Web that are constant. These sections can be visualized as headers and footers in
form letters. The advantage of using Shared Borders is that you can edit these
sections and the changes will show up in all your web pages with Shared Borders in them.

Creating Shared Borders
A. Header and Footer Shared
Borders
1. Open your Front Page Editor.
2. Go to 'Tools' in the menu bar and click on 'Shared Borders'.

3. Select 'Set for this page only'.

4. Select the 'Top' and 'Bottom' options.

5. Click on the top section of your web page where the dashed lines appear.
6. Insert Text and Graphics.
7. Click on the bottom section of your web page where the dashed lines appear.
8. Insert Text and Graphics.
9. Click in the middle of the page.
10. Insert Text and Graphics.
11. Spell check your document (Go to the 'Tools' option in the menu bar
and click on 'Spelling').

12. Save the web page by going to 'File' option in the menu bar and
clicking on 'Save As'. ( Make sure that you save the file under a
different file name than the other files you created. )
13. Type in a file name.
14. Go back to the 'File' option in the menu bar and click on 'Close'.

15. Preview your web page either in your web browser or by clicking on the 'Preview'
Tab in the lower left corner of the Front Page Editor.

Note: In order to see
changes you make in your Borders, you must 'Close' the Front Page Editor. Then you can
save changes made in the Borders you created.
B. Header, Side Menu, and
Footer Shared Borders
1. Open your Front Page Editor.
2. Go to 'Tools' in the menu bar and click on 'Shared Borders'.
