A chance for all employees to come and experience the iPad – will have iPads for you to try, along with a brief overview of what you can do with the iPads for research, in the classroom, and for personal use. The new collections of eBooks available in the CCC Online Library will also be showcased, as well as an overview of eBooks - how to use and access them.

Starting a Conversation: From Journals to Essays, Teaching the Writing Part of Writing Intensive Courses (ROOM 457)

Teaching and talking about writing is not easy. Is there a pedagogical communication goal to Writing Intensive Classes other than having students write 20 pages a semester? What should I expect from students, and what can I expect? What should they be able to expect of me? What kind of support is there for the writing component of my class? Let us begin a conversation, and perhaps we can also begin a process of mutual support and improvement.

Exploring Our Future Online Learning System (ROOM 111)

CCC's Distance Learning Committee needs your input on our next Online Learning Management System. Justin, Rick, and Este will be giving brief demos various options currently used in the state of Arizona, including the next version of Blackboard (9.1), Moodle, Canvas, Desire2Learn and Web Study. We will then give everyone the chance to explore their choice further and ask questions.
The Student Experience (ROOM 511)

Join a diverse panel of CCC students engage with the audience in a CCC College Experience Jeopardy Game to discuss their experience as a community college student living in Flagstaff. Students will also provide feedback on a variety of topics pertaining to what supports or inhibits their success as students.

Learn to use one of three Dreamweaver design templates to build a personal web site to link to your college departmental site .Morgan will lead you through the basic steps in using Dreamweaver to design your page and then show you how to upload the local page to the website for public viewing.

Creativity in the Classroom (ROOM 459)

This is a follow up to the faculty committee's recent discussion about creativity. Many asked for specific examples of how others bring creativity into their classrooms. Bring your creative teaching ideas to share with others. Discussion will also focus around providing supportive structures for students to find success with creativity.

What is PLA? (ROOM 457)

This discussion will introduce the concept of Prior Learning Assessment and how it is being implemented at CCC. CCC has used PLA, as have many other institutions for a considerable time, in substituting certificates and testing for college credit. Participants will learn about how PLA can make educational dreams become reality through portfolio evaluation and how mature, adult learners, can identify prior learning through the PLA workshop, complete a PLA portfolio, and submit the portfolio for potential college credit.

Stimulating and excellent career/ occupational web sites will be shared with workshop participants and strategies by instructors and advisors to assist students with appropriate career and major selection that coincide with student aspirations and occupational objectives will be addressed.
