Academic Standing - Loan applicants must be enrolled in a financial aid eligible program. All Associates degree programs at CCC are financial aid eligible but not all certificate programs are. Students must be on good or probationary academic standing to receive loans. Academically suspended students are not eligible for loans.
Enrollment - Loan applicants must enroll in at least six credit hours in order to receive a loan.
Satisfactory Academic Progress - Loan applicants must be making satisfactory academic progress. For more information on Satisfactory Academic Progress, please visit our SAP website. Students on financial aid suspension are not eligible for loans.
Unmet Need - The student's cost of attendance minus the expected family contribution (from the FAFSA results) and the amount of need-based financial aid received determine unmet need. If a student has requested a subsidized loan only, and has no remaining need, the application will be denied.
The Federal Student Aid Ombudsman of the Department of Education helps resolve disputes and solve other problems with federal student loans. If you feel that you have been unfairly denied a loan or are having a dispute on your educational loan you should first attempt to resolve the problem on your own. If you are unable to resolve the problem you can reach the FSA Ombudsman on their website or by writing the address below:
