Teaching Students Who Have Psychological Conditions

Psychological conditions impact a student’s daily functioning in many ways. A student who is experiencing psychological challenges is likely to have trouble concentrating and remembering information.
Use good communication skills (refer to Language Guide).

Provide appropriate classroom services and accommodations such as:

  • Tape recorded lectures
  • Extended test times
  • Private testing
  • Beverages in classroom
  • Allow student to get up and move around or take brief breaks.
  • Flexibility in the attendance requirements in case of health-related absences
  • Note taker and/or Reader
