This 4 week, non-credit course is for nonprofit administrators, fundraising professionals looking to improve their skills, volunteers with fundraising responsibility, artists, service workers, or others seeking to learn about grantwriting and fundraising.

It covers the essentials of fundraising and grant writing from formulating your "case for support" to writing grants, finding donors, and requesting donations. Participants learn how to find grants and donors, research prospects, create effective grant applications, and prepare required budgets and other reporting documents. It provides an overview of the techniques needed to succeed in fundraising and assists participants in developing an inventory of skills for meeting the challenges of the fundraising profession. The course also looks at current laws and government policies you need to know as well as your responsibilities to granting agencies and donors.

The life of a working artist is both satisfying--and difficult--if you can't figure out how to make a living doing your art. This non-credit course is designed for artists of all kinds: visual artists, musicians, writers, poets, actors, dancers, and others trying to make it on their own. Whether you are trying to sell your art, operate your own business, or trying to make a niche for yourself in the world of art, this course provides some of the basics for being a success. From basic accounting and business skills, to marketing and promotions, how to find grants, and who to go to for advice, this course arms you with essential knowledge and skills that working artists need to have.

Dr. Constance DeVereaux is Principal Manager of DeVereaux Consulting, specializing in arts management, artists' services, non-profit management, community cultural development, and higher education. She is a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Arts Management and Policy and has consulted internationally on arts management and cultural development projects. She is the former director of arts management at Shenandoah University and is the founder of the arts management program at Claremont Graduate University.
