140 ELECTRONIC MEDIA POLICY
Coconino Community College owns and maintains multiple computer systems and technology resources which are used to improve, promote, and further the educational goals and serve the students, staff and faculty to support these goals. The College encourages the use of electronic media within established procedures. The President or designee in conjunction with the Director for Information Technology and affected faculty/staff is responsible for the establishment of such procedures.
140.1 ELECTRONIC MEDIA PROCEDURE
140.1.1 PURPOSE
The College owns and maintains multiple computer systems and technology resources that are used to further the instructional goals of the College and serve employees and students. These systems/resources include personal computers, servers, various peripherals, communication hardware/lines, and associated software.
140.1.2 USE OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA
Electronic media is for the purpose of:
140.1.3 ACCESS TO ELECTRONIC MEDIA
The Information Technology Director or designee will be responsible for granting access to users. Users will be granted access to the College computer system(s) by obtaining:
140.1.4 CONFIDENTIALITY
Users may choose to store program/data files using College systems/technology resources if they have appropriate access. The College reserves the right to access, review, audit, or intercept any/all data on its systems and will, with or without permission of the employee. The confidentiality of any message or data may not be assumed. Even when a message or data is erased, it is still possible to retrieve and read the message. The use of passwords for security does not guarantee confidentiality.
140.1.5 ELECTRONIC MAIL
The College maintains an electronic mail (e-mail) system to assist in conducting business within the institution. All e-mail must contain the name and e-mail address of the individual sending the e-mail. No anonymous mailings or mailings using the e-mail address of another may be sent using the College's system. E-mail addresses may not be shared outside the College without permission of the owner. All messages composed, sent or copies received are and remain the property of the College.
140.1.6 RESTRICTIONS OF SYSTEMS/TECHNOLOGY RESOURCES
Users will adhere to the following guidelines when using College systems/technology resources (the College reserves the right to modify this list at its discretion):
140.1.7 INTERNET USAGE
All users of the systems/technology resources need to be aware that the College does not practice censorship and are responsible for avoidance of all personally offensive material. The Internet is a research/learning tool that is available to employees and registered students.
