What are General Studies?
General Studies are 35 credit hours that ALL transfer students must complete to graduate, regardless of a chosen major. General studies information can be found in the Cococnino Community College catalog.
What is a credit?
A credit hour refers both to how many clock hours you will spend in that course per week during a 16-week semester and how many credits you will receive at the end of the semester if you satisfactorily complete the course.
How many credits do I need to graduate?
Approximately 60 total credit hours (minimum - each degree is different) are required to graduate from Cococnino Community College with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree. These credit hours must consist of:

You can make an appointment to see an advisor at your earliest convenience to review your progress. You can also use the pdf forms available on-line and map out your completed courses.
I’m not sure what I want to do or which major/program is best for me. What can I do?
There are a variety of services available to you through Student Support Services including individualized career counseling appointments, and many additional resources available through Career Services.
I want to change my major/program. How and where do I do that?
For currently enrolled students, program major changes are processed in Admissions and Records. You can choose a major code from our web site and then complete a change form in Admissions and Records at any one of our campus locations. An original signature is required for this change.
Can I take a course without the prerequisites?
To request an override for a class for which you do not meet the prerequisites, please go to the department that is offering the course. You may register for a course if you are currently enrolled in its prerequisites. If you fail the prerequisite, you will be automatically dropped. You will not be permitted to register for a class with prerequisites that you have not met without an override or completing the prerequisites successfully.
Some of the courses I need/want are closed. What can I do?
You should see your academic advisor who can help you identify alternate courses that will fulfill your core and major requirements. You can also be placed on the wait list and possibly be allowed into a class by its instructor.
What is drop/add?
DROP/ADD is a limited time offer. During DROP/ADD, which is typically the first two weeks of each semester, you may drop any class you are registered for, and add a different class or receive a refund. After this period of time you may or may not be granted access to a class.
May I repeat a course if I receive a grade of "C"?
Credit bearing courses at CCC will only be counted once toward fulfilling the credit requirements for any degree or certificate.
Students may repeat a course as necessary, in order to acquire certification, in order to update knowledge and/or skills due to periodic content changes (e.g. Tax Preparation), and for retraining in or upgrading of job-related skills
Students may repeat, but not receive duplicate credit for:
• a course one time in order to improve a grade of C or better
• a course two times for which the previous grade(s) received was "F," "D," or "U"
Repeating In Violation of Policy will have registration for the course canceled, without refund of tuition and fees. Such cancellation may occur at the time of registration or whenever a college official becomes aware of the violation.
What happens if I just stop attending class?
DON'T DO THIS! Some students think that what happens is that the professor just "drops" them for non-attendance. That is not what happens. Instead, the professor gives you an F.
How do I get a PIN number?
New students who apply for admission will receive a student ID. PIN instructions are on the Coconino Community College web page.
Will my CCC credits transfer to other colleges?
Generally courses completed with grades of C or better are transferable. However, each college has specific program requirements and criteria. You can refer to the Arizona Course Applicability System for more detailed information (http://az.transfer.org/cas/students)
Who has access to my academic records?
The Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prevents college personnel from disclosing confidential information about your academic record to anyone without your authorization.
Do I need to see an advisor every semester to register?
You should meet with an academic adviser during your first semester of school. If you are on academic probation or suspension you must meet with an advisor prior to registration. If you know what your plan is you may follow it without seeing an advisor every semester.
Who is my assigned advisor?
The College does not automatically assign students an academic advisor. Generally career program students are advised by the faculty in their department. Most undecided students receive advisement in the Advising Office. If you have a declared major see the appropriate faculty for your program.
Will my advisor tell me what courses to take?
Your advisor will help you clarify your educational, career and life goals and assist in selecting the most appropriate courses to meet your needs.
Is advisement required? Do I have to see an advisor?
All students should meet with an academic adviser during their first semester of school to help them get on the right track. CCC students on probation or suspension need to meet with an advisor prior to registration. You don't have to see an advisor until you have questions, but you may end up taking classes you may not need if you don't try to see an advisor during your first semester with CCC.
