Academic Advising

Meeting with Your Advisor

The Advising staff is committed to helping you achieve your academic goals. Your success is important to us and we are prepared to help you meet the many challenges you will face while pursuing your degree.  We encourage you to see your advisor with any question or problem which may affect your academic progress. View the Programs of Study before you meet with your advisor.

Here is what we can assist you with:

Expectations for the Student/Advisor Relationship.  You can expect:

  • That your advisor will keep all information confidential. Information will only be released with your permission.
  • That your advisor will encourage you to make an appointment to discuss complex matters in person, rather than risk student or advisor misunderstanding.

Limitations On What Your Advisor May Do For You

  • Your advisor will not have all the answers, but will be willing to find out where you can get answers.
  • Your advisor will assist you in making decisions according to your interests and future goals.
  • Your advisor cannot circumvent policies and procedures, but will support and advocate on your behalf where possible.
  • Your advisor can review unofficial transcripts or provide graduation/degree progress checks.

Check "Frequently Asked Questions" which may provide additional information or provide answers to some of your questions.

You may consider attending an in-person orientation or view our on-line orientation for services that are available for all students.

You can also contact the web-advisor if you have a general question. You can also use the on-line advisor or contact a specific advisor.
