A credit hour refers both to how many clock hours you will spend in that course per week during a 16-week semester and how many credits you will receive at the end of the semester if you satisfactorily complete the course.

How can I find out what classes I have left to graduate?
You can contact Student Support Services and make an appointment with an Advisor to determine where you are in your degree plan.

I’m not sure what I want to do or which major/program is best for me. What can I do?
There are a variety of services available to you through Student Support Services including individualized career counseling appointments, and many additional resources available through Career Services.

I want to change my major/program. How and where do I do that?
For currently enrolled students, program changes are processed at Admissions and Records. You need to complete a form at the Admissions Office with an original signature to change your program.

top

Can I take a course without the prerequisites?
To request an override for a class for which you do not meet the prerequisites, please contact the faculty receptionist to see the instructor regarding the specific course for which you need an override.  During registration, you may register for a course if you are currently enrolled in its prerequisites. If you fail the prerequisite, you are automatically removed.

Some of the courses I need/want are closed. What can I do?
You should see your academic advisor who can help you identify alternate courses that will fulfill your core and major requirements.

top

What is drop/add?
DROP/ADD is a limited time offer. During DROP/ADD, which is typically the first two weeks of each semester, you may drop any class you are registered for, and add a different class or receive a refund.

May I repeat a course if I receive a grade of "C"?
Credit bearing courses at CCC will only be counted once toward fulfilling the credit requirements for any degree or certificate.

Students may repeat a course as necessary, in order to acquire certification, in order to update knowledge and/or skills due to periodic content changes (e.g. Tax Preparation), and for retraining in or upgrading of job-related skills

Students may repeat, but not receive duplicate credit for:
• a course one time in order to improve a grade of C or better
• a course two times for which the previous grade(s) received was "F," "D," or "U"

Repeating In Violation of Policy will have registration for the course canceled, without refund of tuition and fees. Such cancellation may occur at the time of registration or whenever a college official becomes aware of the violation.

What happens if I just stop attending class?
DON'T DO THIS! Some students think that what happens is that the professor just "drops" them for non-attendance. That is not what happens. Instead, the professor gives you an F.

How do I get a PIN number?
New students who apply for admission will receive a student ID.  PIN instructions are on the CCC webpage.

top

Will my CCC credits transfer to other colleges?
Generally courses completed with grades of C or better are transferable.  However, each college has specific program requirements and criteria.  You can refer to the Arizona Course Applicability System for more detailed information (http://az.transfer.org/cas/students)

Who has access to my academic records?
The Family Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prevents college personnel from disclosing confidential information about your academic record to anyone without your authorization.

top

Do I need to see an advisor every semester to register?
You should meet with an academic adviser during your first semester of school. If you are on academic probation or suspension you must meet with an advisor prior to registration. If you know what your plan is you may follow it without seeing an advisor every semester.

top

Who is my assigned advisor?
The College does not automatically assign students an academic advisor. Generally career program students are advised by the faculty in their department. Undecdied students receive advisement in the Advising Office.

top

Will my advisor tell me what courses to take?
Your advisor will help you clarify your educational, career and life goals and assist in selecting the most appropriate courses to meet your needs.

top

I need to see an advisor.  What should I do?
Call the Student Support Services Office or stop by and schedule an appointment to be seen by an Advisor. Be sure to bring a list of questions to discuss at that time. You can also email the web advisor for general information.

top

How often should I see my advisor?
Feel free to contact your advisor as often as you may need. Hopefully the staff can assist you and help you to feel confident in your decisions. At minimum you should try to touch base with an advisor every academic year.
