Gerald Brings Home the Bacon
Anthropology instructor Gerald Bacon has been named part-time faculty of the year at Coconino Community College. Bacon was nominated by students and chosen by his peers for many reasons, but what sets him apart is the fact that he truly cares about his job. Student comments included that he is always early for class and willing to answer questions in plain language that is easy to understand. Bacon said, “What I love about teaching is that it keeps me involved and up to date on the latest information in my field. I also enjoy instilling the spirit of learning in my students.” Bacon earned his undergraduate degree from San Jose State in history and social psychology. He earned his master’s degree from Northern Arizona University in historical archeology. Bacon is a retired from the U.S. Military, having served 6 years with the Navy and 16 with the Army at the Navajo Army Depot in Bellmont, AZ.
