Department Chair Computer & Office Information Systems

Teaching Experience:
My educational career at Coconino Community College started in 1996 as an associate faculty member.   My current position is CIS and OIS Instructor and Department Chair for Computer and Office Information Systems.  When I began teaching at CCC I had two other jobs;  I owned my own computer consulting business and I taught part time for NAU, in the College of Education, teaching future teachers how to use the computer in their classroom.

Work Experience:
My work experience started in private business.  I began in 1984, working in New York City for a computer consulting firm, traveling around the country demonstrating software and hardware at computer shows.  In 1991, my wife and I moved to Washington, DC, where I worked for a large international accounting firm selling, installing, implementing and training a variety of companies using computerized  accounting software.

Educational Background:
I began my post-secondary education by attending the University of Wyoming.  I started as a music major and my dream was to become a professional musician.  After running out of money, I quit college and went to work in the oil fields of Wyoming for a summer and a winter.  I saved up all my money and re-enrolled at the University of Wyoming.  I then majored in Elementary Education and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I taught for 8 years 6th graders, third and fourth graders, 7th and 8th grade math and coached high school girls basketball and track.

All the above experiences led me down the path to where I am today, teaching in a community college.  I really enjoy teaching here and I learn right along with the students on a weekly basis.
